What Does Sinking Fund Method Mean?

According to the Investopedia Dictionary SINKING FUND METHOD is: "A technique for depreciating an asset in bookkeeping records while also generating money to purchase a replacement for the asset when it reaches the end of its useful life. Under the sinking fund method, the business sets aside an amount of money to invest annually so that the principal plus the interest earned in the fund will be enough to replace the asset".

Investopedia explains Sinking Fund Method

"The amount of money that needs to be added to the asset-replacement fund each year is calculated by determining how much it will cost to replace the asset, how many years the asset is expected to last and what rate of interest can be earned as well as how much can be earned through the effects of compound interest. The sinking fund method is not common, and is not desirable when interest rates cannot reasonably be predicted."

5 Ways To Be Irreplaceable At Work

According to Judy Free and Traci Maddox, authors of "The Essential Employee: The Adventures of Carmen Senz," research has revealed behaviors considered most valuable in the workplace, in the view of supervisors, coworkers and executives. The employees who exhibit these behaviors to all levels of the organization are in a unique position to build a reputation as absolutely necessary within the organization. It's easy to remember, with a simple acronym: R.E.A.C.H. Perhaps the best part is, these behaviors apply to anyone, and have little to do with your current role, education, level of experience, or professional background. Focal Length Comparison Tool for Photographers

The Tamron Focal Length Comparison Tool simulates the effect of changes in focal length. This tool is particularly useful to experience the range of versatility of various zooms lenses—offering a practical sense of the perspectives you can expect. In addition, the tool allows you to see the difference in resultant angle of view when using a given focal length on 35mm film or full-frame sensor DSLRs or DSLRs with smaller (APS-C-sized) sensors—often referred to as a crop factor or a focal length equivalent.

Maldives Elect Local Councils

The Maldives is changing fast...changing for the better. For the first time in its known history, the government is ceding the powers of administration to its communities scattered in the archipelago. The move is to comply with the country's new constitution, to decentralize the age old system of governing by consolidated powers of rulers or the government in the capital. The Island Councils and Atoll Councils elected on February 5, are responsible for all aspects of development, from designing to deploying, as well as promotion of social justice and welfare of the communities they represent. Beginning 2011 the country is classified by the UN as a developing country. The decentralization is intended to take the country to the next level of development - without ruffling its feathers of traditions and cultural values.

Make Our Traditions Speak With Compassion

I am truly inspired by, "An honest and wholehearted attempt to fulfill a task that is incumbent upon us all, whatever our faith: to...make our traditions speak with compassion and respect to our dangerously polarized world." -- Karen Armstrong, the author of  A History of God: The 4,000-Year Quest of Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

It is my earnest request from the visitors to this blog to kindly make a wholehearted attempt to express your opinions and views to make the world we live a better place for all of us to live, regardless of our acquired backgrounds - faith, culture and tradition.
